And this was just at the beginning of the day.
Well, at least she was during this picture. She isn’t always a smiley happy baby. She’s been referred to as an “attitude” baby both by us and daycare. But we still love her.
Life’s been busy here. Work, play, pay almost $2k for my transmission. You know, normal stuff.
Yeah, that’s right. $2k for my transmission.
At least I have cute kids to gaze at and make my world happy.

As you may have noticed by looking at the photos that I post here and Doug posts there, we use Flickr. We love flickr. Well, Flickr recently partnered with Picnik. We love Picnik. You can edit photos that are in Flickr and, while it isn’t quite as flexible as photoshop, it has a lot of presets and other things that you can do that you might want to do quickly. Love it.
So today I took this picture of Thea. I used natural light but for some reason it ended up a little blue. I think I need to work on the white balance in my photos. That or the light through our window has a blue tint.

So I took it into Picnik and did some editing. I used the sliders and edited contrast, saturation, temperature and…oh something else that I can’t remember right now. And then I was able to do “boost” on the Create tab. That just really finished it off. How can you not love the finished photo?

And then, just because I could (we have the premium account), I did a “Holga” effect.

Isn’t she so beautiful?
My friend Kristin lives in Indianapolis. Her son was born about 2.5 weeks before Thea. He was premature but still weighed more than 8 lbs at birth. He’s still a large baby. Thea, who was born just over 7 lbs, is a tiny baby. We discovered that we have the same playmat so in January we did a photomerge of the two babies. We did another today. They’re wearing the same style of diaper this time. He’s still huge. She’s still tiny. I’m not sure what we’re going to do in two months because he’s going to be much bigger than the playmat.
We decided to try something new this weekend. Daycare had thawed a bag of milk and then sent her home with diarrhea (which we think was an allergic reaction). Since you can’t re-freeze breastmilk (or anything else), we had to use it. So we decided to try it in a sippy cup. She LOVED it. I don’t think she got too much in her mouth–most of it dribbled all over her Christmas outfit–but she sure had fun!
She’ll be 7 months on Saturday. Maybe we’ll try some solid foods sometime soon. Maybe. Or maybe we’ll wait a little longer.
My baby is growing up!
